Left the houseboat around 11 and were on the road to Madurai, tomorrow evening from where we have train to our destination. Tomorrow one more friend will also be joining us on our return journey. Had our lunch at some midway on way back from Alleppy and by late afternoon we’ve reached to the hometown of that friend, Bodinayakanur, the place famous for cardamoms. We reached to the home, the family received us pretty well like we’ve been over there many a times. We relaxed over there for a few hours, roamed around with the friend and had the dinner with them at around 8. We had plans to leave in about an hour so that we can comfortably reach Madurai before midnight. That friend was supposed to come next day to Madurai and join us on our return trip.
But, when we were wrapping up after dinner uncle got a call from one of the assistants that he will visit him in morning or late morning as he is stuck in heavy traffic jam result of an accident on Madurai highway and was not sure when he’ll reach Bodinayakanur. Uncle informed us about the situation and said that leaving right now means only spending night in car only. Besides this we were also less interested in leaving as our driver was also tried as on drive during the day and we didn’t want to take risk of spending night in the car.
We were confused as what to do, and where to stay at night as the reason being it was Sia’s home and we were a little bit uncomfortable in spending the night over there. So we asked uncle if there is any hotel or lodge there where we can stay during the night. But to our surprise before uncle could’ve say anything aunty said, “Beta, tum log hamari Sia k dost ho, hamare mehmaan ho. Aur mehmaan ko hotel mei nahi ghar mei tehraya jaata hai.” And then uncle added, “Arre isse apna hi ghar samjho, feel comfortable and don’t worry sab adjust ho jaayega.”
Listening this we were happy (especially me) as I’ve got some more time to spent with her. Although there is a train journey ahead but still no matter how much time we got it remains less. After finalizing this we three decided to go out for a walk in the town to look the Christmas lighting in local market and churches. She and her younger brother Ankit too joined us after taking permission from their parents. Ankit was very much interested in latest gadgets and so is Montu. Knowing this I started the topic asking Ankit about his laptop and games that he have, and slowly Montu and Binnu took over the discussions, and I sidelined from the discussion.
Gradually we’ve divided in two groups as in Montu, Binnu and Ankit discussing the latest games and gadgets and me & Sia walking a few steps behind them with our hands in hand and talking about her stay at home. It was only 10 when we started and the town was deserted, so we walked in almost empty market for about 40-45 mins and then returned back to their place. By then it was almost 11 and our arrangement was done in the guest room.
11.15 - everyone went to their room wishing each other good night.
11.30 - Montu was fast asleep and snoring whereas me and Binnu were generally talking.
11.35 – I got a message, “Shona, so gaye kya?? Kya kar rahe ho????” I replied “No. talking to binnu” and then our smsing started.......
