A day before Valentine's Day
At 10.30 AM I was about to leave for the office and got a call from some Gurgaon landline number.
Caller: Hello, Pranjalji bol rahe hai?
Me: Ji haan bol raha hu
Caller: Sir hum XYZ post office se bol rahe hai aapke naam par ek bada sa parcel aaya hua hai
Me: to aap deliver kar dijiye….
Caller: Sir, parcel bada hai.. cycle par nahi aayga… aap aakar collect kar lijiye.
Me: Ok… abhi aata hu
10.50 AM
I was at post office taking the delivery of the parcel. Checked the parcel and was pleasantly surprised to see Sia’s name in senders’ details. I called her immediately but she didn't pick up, perhaps she was in class. Dropped the parcel back to the room and rushed to the office.
12PM, 2 PM, 4.30 PM, 6 PM, 7 PM
I kept on calling, left behind many messages but didn't even have had any replies or return call. Besides this, it was having pretty hectic day, too much work load and that to deliver today itself. Ambiguous situation – had a lot of work to do, almost impossible to leave before 9, and at back of mind it was the parcel that was waiting for me to open it.
8.30 PM
Finally got a message from her: “please don’t open the box before my call. Had to go for a practice… Bbye” And even after sending a couple of messages, no replies. Was too much tempted to open the box but now had to wait…
11.15 PM
No call yet… normally we use to be on phone by 11. She is testing my patience, I’m on verge of losing my temper but the look of the gift is controlling it to the best. Lets see who wins…
11.45 PM
Tringg tringg… And then she called…
